February 13, 2018

The Northark Board of Trustees met in Special Session Thursday, February 13, 2018 in the Bennie Ellis Board Room on the South Campus.  Chair David Evans called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m. Trustees Jane Adair, Scott Miller, Kirk Campbell, David Evans, Don Tomlinson, R.G. Earnest, Sarah Jo Fendley, Chris McNew, and Bill Lovell were present. Trustee Sarah Jo Fendley were absent.

Northark personnel attending included Dr. Randy Esters, Dr. Rodney Arnold, Rick Williams, Don Sugg, and Trish Villines. James White represented the Harrison Daily Times.

Approval of Agenda: Chair Evans asked if there were any changes to the agenda. There being none, the agenda stood approved.

New Business:

Approval of Ellucian Colleague Software System: There was discussion that the College’s Student Information System is very antiquated. It was noted that the Title III grant budget included about $1.1 million for purchasing the new SIS. Don Sugg, Vice President of Finance and Administration, noted that through an extensive selection process the College recommended Ellucian/Colleague for the new SIS contract. To bridge the timing of the initial outlay for system software and implementation services and the 5-year Title III annual funding schedule, the College proposed that a revolving loan with a lending institution be authorized to facilitate the system payments and grant draws. It was noted that the finance contract would be advertised and that a recommendation would be made at the March 2018 meeting.

Trustee Lovell motioned to approve entering into contract with Ellucian/Colleague as the new SIS provider. Trustee Adair seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

Board Comments:

There being no further business, Chair Evans requested a motion to adjourn. Trustee Miller made a motion, which was seconded by Trustee Lovell and passed. The meeting adjourned at 7:50 a.m.
