volunteers work on christmas displays“Northark Cares” was the mantra as over 50 members of the North Arkansas College faculty and staff spread out across Harrison and the surrounding area to help 8 different charitable organizations.

Adorned in black t-shirts that said “Teamwork makes the dream work” donated by Space Saver Solutions and Topstitch, Northark employees volunteered their time to serve each of those organizations during the college’s annual Day of Service, held on November 12.

William Tollett, executive director at Harrison House of Hope, praised the college employees for their help.

“As a non-profit, we are always grateful for our volunteers.  North Arkansas College partnered with us during their Day of Service and sent five of their staff members to clean out and organize a LARGE warehouse of ours that needed a lot of TLC,” Tollett said. “Their partnership and labor of community support allowed us the opportunity to organize donated items to better serve our community.  THANK YOU for your hard work and joyful spirit."

Matt Cardin, Northark’s new vice president of academics appreciated the opportunity to serve.

As a new arrival at Northark and Harrison, I found the whole experience especially beneficial for getting better acquainted with both my Northark colleagues and the wider Harrison community,” Cardin said. “The sense of camaraderie was wonderful. So was the sense of doing something helpful and meaningful for a worthy organization like the Ozarks Humane Society.”

Among the organizations served by Northark Friday were The Call, Ozark Humane Society, Children’s Charity Ministry, Harrison House of Hope, Three Wishes for Ruby’s Residents, Sanctuary Thrift Store, Sharing Kitchen, Ozark Share & Care, and Camp Jack.
