Manufacturing Days set for October 7 & 14

Mon Aug 15, 2022 at 01:49 PM

On National Manufacturing Days October 7 & 14, 2022, North Arkansas College Technical Center will open its doors to over 800 local school students as it showcases the manufacturing and engineering careers available at local companies. This educational event occurs across the nation and is designed to open the minds of young adults by inspiring them to pursue careers in manufacturing and engineering.

Students will tour PACE Industries, Wabash Wood Products, WestRock, Strand Composites and Claridge. Lunch will be served, and students will then tour the North Arkansas College Technical Center and North Campus technical programs. Northark’s Technical Center (NTC) offers students classes which enable them to earn college credit while they attend high school at no cost to them. They get a kick-start on a future career. Students can experiment with different careers before spending their own money on classes. It is a game-changer as it breaks down barriers that exist for first generation students who are unfamiliar with college. The two years they attend NTC in high school at no cost to them frees up scholarship money they would have paid on tuition. Students can then use those funds on necessities such as textbooks, rent, gas or childcare to complete their education or training.

The event is open to the public from Noon to 1:00 P.M. The Northark Technical Center is located at 1320 North Spring Road, Harrison, AR.
