Northark scores seven medals at SkillsUSA competition

Several North Arkansas College Technical SkillsUSA students brought home 7 awards during the 2018 State Leadership Conference held recently in Hot Springs. Fifteen students competed and five qualified to compete in nationals.

The team earned five gold medals and two silver medals.

The SkillsUSA award placings are as follows: (*denotes students eligible for National Competition)

 

 

 

 

Gold Medals

*Anthony Hall, Gold Medal for Automotive Refinishing Technology

*Kelby Howerton, Gold Medal for Cabinetmaking

*Boone Walker, Gold Medal for CNC Turning Specialist

*Lee Davenport, Gold Medal for Masonry Austin Drewry

*Shiloh Lyons, Gold Medal for Welding Sculpture.


Silver Medals

Bryant Vasquez, Silver Medal for Carpentry Electrical

Austin Drewry, Silver Medal for HVAC

 

This competition provides an avenue for students to apply everything they have learned in the classroom. 

Career and technical education students from high schools and colleges across the state competed in contests which included manufacturing, transportation, construction, hospitality and human service fields.

The students are now looking forward to national competition to be held in Louisville, Ky. June 25-29.
