Herd Health

At North Arkansas College, we follow guidelines and husbandry practices expressed by the American Beef Quality Assurance program. We raise approximately 25 to 50 head of stocker cattle on our Agriculture Science Facility. These animals are utilized in lab exercises from feedstuff studies, proper procedures to identify flight zones, and administering proper vaccination programs. We utilize local Veterinarian, Dr. Joe Melton as our herd veterinarian. Dr. Melton conducts regular visits to overlook and observe heard health and consults with our instructor and rodeo coach to assure greatest results toward achieving our Agricultural Department’s goal to provide a safe, wholesome beef supply, and proper learning environment for America’s future beef cattle producers.
