The Department of Art is dedicated to the creation and historical study of the visual arts through its undergraduate degree programs. Students are encouraged Painting in Art Departmentindividually and collectively to develop aesthetic awareness, perceptual and creative problem-solving skills, analytic and synthetic forms of visual reasoning, and informed judgment in a learning environment that values expression, philosophical reflection, and spiritual growth.

In studio art students explore and create using the language of two- and three-dimensional form, space, and time in traditional media and new technologies. In subjects of art history and visual culture, students study the history of painting, sculpture, architecture and other art forms from a wide range of Western, Asian, African, Latin American and other traditions and geographical regions. In multimedia and graphics/web design , students prepare to become graphic artists and mainstream designers by engaging in studio production and multimedia project deadlines.
