Adult Students

North Arkansas College has many options for adult students. You can enroll at Northark to get your degree or certificate, obtain a GED, brush up on your skills or learn English as a second language.

Apply for admission to North Arkansas College using our online application. Then provide the following documentation:

  • Placement Score (ACT or ACCUPLACER scores)
  • Official high school transcript or GED scores and all college/university transcripts
  • Proof of two measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) immunizations

General Education Diploma (GED)
Free GED classes and testing are provided at all of our locations. Classes are offered to anyone 16 years and older who is not enrolled in school. To make an appointment to enter the program, call one of the centers listed below.

 

Brush Up
Brush Up is designed for people entering college or want more training to "brush up" on their skills. These courses are self-paced and individualized to the specific needs of the adults and the training they are seeking. There are three areas of concentration:

  • Mathematics — includes a review of whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percents, geometry and algebra
  • English — includes grammar and writing skills
  • Reading — includes a self-paced, individualized course with vocabulary building, comprehension improvement and critical thinking.

English as a Second Language
This course is for adults 18 years of age and older whose native language is not English. Students will experience an improved use of the English language. For those seeking help with reading and math, Basic Skills classes are also available. Placement tests are available to help in determining the level of instruction. Students use computer-assisted instruction using the newest, most effective software. To request more information, please contact one of the Adult Education centers below:
