Team Overview

  • The Cincinnati State women's basketball team has had one of the most successful seasons in Coach Sonya Beeler's tenure. With a record of 26-6, the Surge have had impressive wins over NJCAA DI Vincennes University during the regular season and the previously undefeated Owens Community College in the District I championship game. A tough non-conference schedule prepared the team for their run in the district tournament.  Four of their six losses on the season were to teams ranked in the NJCAA DII top 20.

  • Ashley Moore, freshman shooting guard from Felicity, Ohio. Moore has led Cincinnati State in scoring this year with averages of 17.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, two assists and 3.3 steals per game. She was named OCCAC Freshman of the Year, as well as, being named to the All-Defensive team, and first team All-Conference.

  • Takyra (TK) Gilbert, freshman point guard from Hamilton, Ohio. Gilbert has been the starting point guard for Cincinnati State all season. She is averages 13 points, 2.8 rebounds, two assists, and 2.5 steals per game. She was named to the OCCAC All-Defensive team and second team All-Conference.
