Team Overview

The Highland Women’s Basketball team is on pace to have one of the most successful seasons in school history.

With a 32-0 record, the Scotties have won the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Championship and the Region VI Championship this season.

The Scotties have been ranked in the NJCAA Top 10 all season and in the No. 3 spot the last six weeks of the season. They have defeated six Top 20 teams in the last 12 games with an average margin of victory of 25ppg.

This season, Highland has averaged 100.7ppg shooting 49.6% from the floor and 33.4% from three-point range. The Scotties grab 44.8 rebounds a game and share the ball well with 22.8 assists per game. They are averaging 20 steals per game and forced 999 total turnovers this season for a 31.2 average per game.

Mariane De Caravalho is the offensive leader of the team but has a great supporting cast. De Caravalho, who earned Freshman of the Year and All-American honors as a freshman, is averaging 19.8 ppg, 7.9 reb/g, 3.7 ast/g and 2.5 stl/g. She is the only Highland women’s basketball player to score 1,000 career points.

Sophomore transfer Berniezha Tidwell has had a great season on both sides of the ball. Tidwell averages 15.1 ppg while averaging 4 steals per game on the defensive end. She also is averaging 3.7 assists per game.

Sophomore point guard Blaize Burgess has put on a shooting clinic all season from behind the three-point line. Burgess averages 12.5 points per game making 96 threes this season at 40.9%. Burgess also shoot it 87.6% from the free throw line.

Niccolly Ramalho, sophomore guard, is the heart of this Scottie team. Most of the hustle plays Ramalho makes don’t show up on a stat sheet but are invaluable to the success of the team. She averages 12.4 ppg, 5.8 reb/g, 5 ast/g and 4 stl/g. She plays 22.6 minutes per game and is 100% the entire time.

Two other Scotties contribute offensively. Kamryn Lemon averages 9.8 ppg and Sydney Brinlee chips in 9.2 ppg. Lemon adds in 2.4 steals per game and 2.8 assists per game while Brinlee grabs 7.6 rebounds per game.

Keondra White doesn’t fill up a stat sheet but has started in 30 out of 32 games this season. As a guard, she does a great job taking care of the basketball and getting the offense flowing.
