Amellia Bateman receives Presidential Scholarship

Amellia Bateman of Kingston, recipient of Presidential Scholarship to attend Northark in Fall 2013Amellia Bateman has been awarded the Presidential Scholarship to attend North Arkansas College this fall.  A senior at Kingston High School, she is the daughter of Roger and Amy Bateman.   

Ameilla is a member of the Beta Club, FFA, the Library Club, and Youth Alive.  She has participated in many community services that the clubs are active in, such as community clean up efforts, nursing home visits, and food/clothing drives.

Amellia plans to complete the Registered Nursing program at Northark, and then transfer to Arkansas Tech to complete her BSN.   She hopes to spend her career working in the local area, “giving back to the community that has graciously supported me”.  She also plans to spend some time working as a nurse in remote areas of Alaska. 

When asked for a quote about receiving the scholarship, Amellia responded simply with “Praise the Lord.”

In order to qualify for a Presidential Scholarship at North Arkansas College, a student must score 22 or higher on the ACT Examination.
