ALL-TIME RECORD

Northark Enrollment Hits 2,012

The official student enrollment for the fall semester at North Arkansas College is 2,012 students—the largest number in the history of the Harrison college and the first time Northark has ever exceeded 2,000 students in a single semester.

That announcement was made Thursday, Sept. 12, during the college’s monthly board of trustees meeting.  The breakdown of the figures shows 1,845 students taking classes on-campus and an additional 167 students enrolled either in interactive television courses, off-campus classes, or through the North Arkansas Technical Center.

Northark also posted an all-time high total of student semester credit hours taken with 21,266.   That translates into a full-time equivalency total of 1,417.73.

Of the 2,012 students, nearly 61 percent are females.  The college has 1,222 females and 790 males enrolled this fall.

A little over 56 percent of Northark’s students, 1,127, are attending college full-time, taking 12 or more semester hours.  The remaining 885 students are enrolled in less than 12 hours.

Boone County supplies about 47 percent of North Arkansas College’s student body, with 948 students enrolled.  Carroll County is next with 295 students, followed by Newton County with 193, Marion County with 156, and Searcy County with 151.  Taney County in Missouri has 59 students enrolled in classes at Northark, and Baxter County in Arkansas is next with 43.  Northark has 112 students from a total of 15 states other than Arkansas and another six students from foreign countries.

North Arkansas College has more 18-year-olds, 264, than any other age group.  There are 245 students age 19 enrolled this fall at the college, 174 students age 17, and 134 students age 20.  The reason for the large number of students who are 17 years of age is that Northark has several high school students enrolled in interactive television classes or taking technical programs through the new Northark Technical Center for dual credit.  The average age of the student body is 27.52.  The oldest student taking classes is 77, and there are 39 “Golden Agers”  (students ages 60 or older) taking classes for credit or auditing courses this fall.
