REPRESENTATIVE PHIL JACKSON
WILL BE NORTHARK COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER
State Rep. Phil Jackson of Berryville will be the 2003 Commencement speaker at
North Arkansas College. The annual event will be held Saturday, May 10, at 10
a.m. in the Bill Baker Amphitheatre. Dr. Jeff Olson, president of North Arkansas
College, will introduce Jackson.
"Representative Jackson is a longtime Northark friend and supporter," said Olson. "We welcome his continued interest as we extend our outreach activities in the college's service area."
Jackson represents District 91, which includes all of Carroll County and a portion of Boone County. Vice chairman of the Revenue and Tax Committee and chairman of the Sales and Excise Tax Sub Committee in the House of Representatives during the 84th General Assembly, Jackson also serves as a member of the City, County and Local Affairs Committee; Technology and Communications Committee; Education Committee; and Legislative Council.
A former five-term Carroll County Judge, Jackson is the past chairman of the Northwest Arkansas Rural Conservation and Development District. He is also a past chairman of the Four County Solid Waste District and Carroll County Solid Waste District, and the Arkansas County Judges Legislative Committee.
He is a past vice chairman of the Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District Board and a former member of the Arkansas County Judges Executive Board. He also served on the Arkansas Work Force Investment Board.
During the 83rd General Assembly, Jackson chaired the Public Employees Retirement Sub Committee in the House of Representatives and was vice chairman of the Aeronautics and Waterways Sub Committee. He was a member of the Joint House and Senate Social Security and Retirement Committee; Public Transportation Committee; City, County and Local Affairs Committee; and House and Senate Joint Legislative Audit Committee.
Married to Leslie Jane Jackson, Jackson has three children, three stepchildren, and three grandchildren. He is a member of the United Methodist Church and is a resort owner and operator in Carroll County. He has 28 years of business experience, including upper management experience in Systems Design and Development.
