MASSEY SELECTED AS STATE CHAIR

 

   James “Troy” Massey, a member of North Arkansas College Board of Trustees, has been appointed as the new Association of Community College Trustees State Chair for the state of Arkansas.  He will serve as a critical connection between the ACCT Board of Directors and the member Boards in Arkansas.  Troy Massey

   “North Arkansas College is a beacon of opportunities in our local community and serves to provide a quality, affordable education to students to meet the needs of business and industry in Northwest Arkansas,” said Massey.  “I look forward to representing all of Arkansas’s Community Colleges as they become recognized among the best in the nation.”

   Ken Burke, ACCT Chair notified Massey by letter.  In making the appointment, Burke wrote, “In your new leadership role, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of the Association and, in so doing so, enhance trusteeship throughout the nation’s community colleges.”  Massey attended the Community College Legislative Summit in Washington, February 5-8.

   Massey is employed as a Senior Claims Adjuster working Northwest Arkansas with an office in Jasper.  He has been married to his wife, Beverly, for 30 years and they have a daughter, Whitney Brooke Massey, who is a public relations officer at First Federal Bank in Fayetteville, AR.

   Massey’s passion is history, and he is very active in Civil War clubs such as the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Military Order of Stars and Bars and the Southern Memorial Association.  His other club and organization memberships include:  Kiwanis Club of Harrison, Newton and Searcy counties, Boone County Historical Society, Sons of the American Revolution, Boone County Lodge F & A M 314 and Campbell Lodge 115, Scimitar Shrine Temple, Ozark Shrine Club, Scottish Rite Temple, York Rite, National Rifle Association, and the North Arkansas College Board of Trustees.  He is a member of Southern Hills Missionary Baptist Church.  He was also an actor in the civil war movie, “The Blue and the Gray.”  He is a monthly featured writer for the regional magazine, “Life in the Ozarks”.
