Northark Educators Honored, Present At NISOD Conference

Five Northark Faculty Members Honored

HONORED - Five Northark faculty members received teaching excellence medallions Sunday, May 25th during opening ceremonies of the International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence in Austin, Tex.  Northark faculty members honored included (from left) Roy Bill Ezell, Bruce Hall, Jerry Wheaton, Barry Charter, and Dr. Ben Barridge.

DR. RICK HINTERTHUER, executive director of the North Arkansas Partnership for Health Education, is shown speaking Tuesday morning at the International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence in Austin, Tex.  Hinterthuer and Dr. Jeff Olson, president of North Arkansas College, spoke on "Powerful Community Partnerships."  They explained to an audience of community college educators how NAPHE, which now operates as the Arkansas Health Education Center-NW at Harrison, has offered more than 550 continuing education classes, served more than 13,000 students, produced over 800 certified nursing assistants, and worked with 660 businesses and agencies since it started in 1997.  The program, which started as a partnership between Northark and North Arkansas Regional Medical Center, now receives more than $500,000 per year in funding from several different sources.

DR. JEFF OLSON (left), president of North Arkansas College, and Dr. Rick Hinterthuer, executive director of the North Arkansas Partnership for Health Education, spoke Tuesday, May 27th, at the International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence in Austin, Tex.  The topic of their presentation was Powerful Community Partnerships.  Hinterthuer told the audience the story of the development of the Arkansas Health Education Center-Northwest at Harrison and how it grew from a partnership between Northark and North Arkansas Regional Medical Center. Olson related the strategies used for AHEC-NW at Harrison to other programs needed for workforce development.
