NORTHARK PRESENTS OLSON’S OKTOBERFEST

Members of the Harrison Chamber of Commerce and other college supporters are invited to ”Olson’s Oktoberfest,” a special Business After Hours hosted by North Arkansas College Thursday, October 25.

The event will feature bratwurst and sauerkraut cooked by Tom Arnold, lots of other good food, and several door prizes.  The grand prize will be a one-semester full tuition scholarship to attend North Arkansas College.  The scholarship, which may be used during the spring or fall semester of 2002, will be named after the winner of the drawing, who will also have the opportunity to select a recipient.

“Giving our chamber members an opportunity to meet Dr. Jeff Olson, Northark’s new president, is one of the reasons we are hosting the event,” said Cathy Brandt, a member of the North Arkansas College Foundation Board and chairperson of the Oktoberfest. Dr. Olson started July 1, 2001 as the second president of North Arkansas College.  He came to Northark from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College in Orangeburg, S.C., where he served as president for six years.

“Olson’s Oktoberfest” will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the conference center of the John Paul Hammerschmidt Business and Conference Center on North Arkansas College’s South Campus.  The best place to park for the event is below the JPH Center and Pioneer Pavilion.

An all-time record 1,889 credit students are enrolled at North Arkansas College this fall.  A comprehensive, public two-year college, Northark offers transfer and technical degree programs, one-year technical certificates, certificates of proficiency, customized business and industry training, adult basic education (GED) classes, and non-credit community education courses.  The institution is especially proud of its leadership in the use of educational technology, in community outreach and partnerships, and in allied health education.
