Northark To Host Oct. 24 Business After Hours

Good Food and “Polka Fun” for Olson’s OKtoberfest

Last year’s event was so much fun, North Arkansas College has decided toKarl & Shirlee Stoops do it again!  Members of the Harrison Chamber of Commerce are invited to the second annual Olson’s Oktoberfest, a special Business After Hours hosted by Northark President Dr. Jeff Olson, Thursday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Conference Center of the John Paul Hammerschmidt Business and Conference Center on the college’s South Campus.

In addition to traditional Oktoberfest food, including bratwurst and sauerkraut prepared by Tom Arnold and his crew, this year’s event will feature live polka music featuring Karl and Shirlee Stoops of Tulsa, Okla.

“Last year we had good food.  This year, we’ll have good food and polka fun!” said Cathy Brandt, a member of the North Arkansas College Foundation board and chairperson of the event.

The Stoops, who call their act “Polka Fun,” have provided entertainment for Oktoberfest celebrations for more than 20 years.

Northark’s Business After Hours will include several door prizes.  The grand prize for the second straight year will be a one-semester full tuition scholarship, which may be used during the spring or fall semester of 2003.  The scholarship will be named after the winner of the drawing, who will also have the opportunity to select the recipient.  Clyde Johnson of Johnson Manufacturing won the drawing last year.

North Arkansas College set a new enrollment record with 2,012 credit students this fall.  It marked the first time the Harrison college has exceeded the 2,000 mark.
