Educational Opportunity Center helps adults 19+ who would be first generation college students, gain admission or re-admission to college and find financial assistance for their education.  Services include assistance with completing college admission and financial aid applications; GED program referrel; academic advising; and career counseling.


What is Educational Opportunity Center (EOC)?

The Educational Opportunity Center is a program, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, designed to assist adults, 19+, in obtaining postsecondary education (education beyond high school/GED level). 

Established in 1972; Education Amendments of 1972 (P.L. 92-318)


Who is Eligible?

U.S. citizens who:

Live in the following 12 counties in Arkansas:  Baxter, Boone, Carroll, Fulton, Izard, Madison, Marion, Newton, Searcy, Sharp, Stone and Van Buren. 
Are 19 years of age or older
Are enrolled or want to enroll in a program of postsecondary education.


What services are available?

Recruitment- Identifying individuals interested in furthering their education.

Information- Postsecondary admissions and financial aid.

Counseling- Academic, career and postsecondary enrollment.

Technical Assistance- Help in preparing applications for financial aid and postsecondary admissions.

Resources Center- Books, videos and software on educational opportunities, job readiness, basic skills, personal improvement, career information and exploration.

Referral- To GED/ABE classes and other agencies for services not provided by EOC.
