Help on Creating FlashPaper
FlashPaper
FlashPaper is a program that comes with Contribute. It converts files into images that can be displayed on the Internet.
When we open Microsoft Word or Excel we can select View > Toolbars > FlashPaper Toolbar.

Let’s try to create a FlashPaper from one of the files on your CD.
- Open the Excel file aas_ba_ac_f06. This document is a single page degree plan provided by the registrar’s office.

- If your toolbars are not already displayed, open them as described above.
- Click the blue FlashPaper button.

- You will then be asked to choose a location on your computer to save the file. I chose My Documents.

- You will see the following box.

- You should now have a converted FlashPaper!
Let’s try the same thing in Microsoft Word.
- Open the Word file Academic Calendar.

- If your toolbars are not already displayed, open them as described above.
- Click the blue FlashPaper button.

- You will then be asked to choose a location on your computer to save the file. I chose My Documents.
- You will see the following box.

- You should now have a converted FlashPaper! Now all we have to do is insert them into our Web page.
Inserting FlashPaper
Now that we have an array of FlashPaper files, let’s include them in our content. For convenience, there should be some previously converted documents on your CD.
Let’s insert our FlashPaper file named aas_ba_ac_f06 from our CD.
- Open Contribute and click on the training link.
- Navigate to your assigned Practice Page.
- Click Edit Page.
- You can erase your previous changes if you wish.
- On the top Menu bar select Insert > Flash > From My Computer…

- You will then receive a warning that not all readers can read Flash Objects. You can check the box that says “Don’t warn me again.” if you like and click OK.

- Now you will need to navigate to the file aas_ba_ac_f06 on your CD.

- Now the FlashPaper image will appear in the content area and you can resize the image to make it easier to read by dragging the edges to the correct size.

- Select Publish. Play with the toolbar that appears at the top of the image. You can zoom, print, etc. straight from the image which makes it very user friendly!
