Refresh
So what ‘cache’ and why does it need cleared?
When you visit web sites often your operating system is nice enough to save a copy of the page in memory. Ever notice how when you go to a page a second time it loads faster? The problem with cache is sometimes you can update the web page – but the old page is saved in cache so you do not see your changes. Your browser lies to you and shows you the old page hiding your updates – or hiding a problem! In this way sometimes people do not see the changes they make and think that Contribute isn’t working – or think everything is working fine when it isn’t.
There are several ways to make sure you are seeing the latest page:
This is a utility from Microsoft to clear the cache (memory) of your browser.
On the top of the Browser click the Refresh Icon: ![]()
Sometimes you will have to click this more than once to clear the browser memory.
To never worry about site memory again you can follow these steps in your browser:
First launch your browser: ![]()
Choose Internet Options from the Tools menu:

On the General Tab, choose Settings:

Choose “Every visit to the page” which will make the browser always load the latest version of the page.

Click ‘Okay’
You may also wish to clear your cookies and history while you’re on the general tab.
This should make sure you always see the latest version of the page.

If you do have problems with the appearance of a page it’s very useful to take a screen shot and send it to a member of the web team (listed below). To take a screen shot push the print screen key on your keyboard. Open your e-mail in Outlook and press ‘NEW’ (e-mail message), either Edit>Paste or Ctrl-V and the screen shot you just took should display in your new e-mail message. It is also very useful for the web team to know the resolution your monitor is set at and what browser you are using. In other words be sure to give us as much information as you have on hand.
