Mr. Summers has been an Educational Talent Search (ETS) Academic Counselor at Arkansas State University Mountain Home (ASUMH) since 1991.  He moved to Arkansas from Alvin, Texas, where he taught eleven years in in-school suspension and at an alternative school. 

His primary work with secondary students is done at their respective schools.  He works with students in the Cotter, Melbourne, Norfork, and Viola school districts. 

Mr. Summers helps students with decisions about colleges, careers, financial aid and scholarship information.  Students also receive workshops on study skills, critical thinking, ACT preparation, self-esteem development, goal/value setting, college tours and cultural events--just to name a few.

He holds a Master of Education Degree in Health and Physical Education from the University of Houston, which has allowed him, at times, to teach at North Arkansas College (Northark) and ASUMH.  With forty-two credit hours above his master's degree, he also has Mid-Management Certification in Secondary Education Administration.
