Career & Personality Inventories The Kuder Online Career Portfolio - There are 3 assessments with this inventory. The one that is most important for ETS students in the Career Search with Person Match. The results give you extensive information about careers that match you. You are able to save educational and occupational data and build resumés. The Career Key - After answering a series of questions you are given jobs that suite you best. From those you choose a job and a given a description of it directly from the OOH. Occupational Outlook Handbook - This publication will give you information on just about any job, including description, salary, training required and future outlook. Jung - Myers-Briggs - This is a personality inventory. It assigns letters to identify your specific type. For example, I am an ESFJ. Take the test and read about the results. I like this one a lot! Keirsey Temperament Sorter - This is also a personality inventory that breaks you down into 4 then 16 different categories. You can actually take the test and read more about your results. True Colors - This is my favorite one! It is the easiest personality inventory to take and understand. They do not offer it for free on their web site, however the company does offer meanings for each color. Just look at the illustrations, read the descriptions and decide which of the four colors fits you best. I am a Gold. Financial Aid & Scholarships U.S. Department of Education Free Application for Federal Student Aid - You and a parent can apply for a PIN and go through this whole process online or you can find a paper copy at any high school or college. For you high school seniors, you will need to complete this as soon as your parents get their taxes prepared during your senior year. The longer you wait, the more money you could miss out on! Remember: You should never pay for service associated with the FAFSA & the web site is www.fafsa.ed.gov....DON"T BE FOOLED BY IMITATORS! Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship - This scholarship requires that you start planning in the 9th grade. You must take college core cirriculum, meet ACT and GPA requirements, meet income guidelines and attend an Arkansas college. It is worth almost $12,000 over four years. You must apply online by June 1st of your senior year. Arkansas Association of Two-Year Colleges - Here you will find a state map with links to every 2-year public institution in the state. Arkansas Department of Higher Education - Links to all 2 and 4-year colleges in Arkansas Peterson's Guide - Search by location, major, tuition, size, GPA and sports. You will get detailed information like town size, campus acreage, student to faculty ratio, price of tuition, # of students, available majors and admission requirements. Register to take virtual tours of almost any campus in the US. Also read up on every aspect of the college experience. The Princeton Review - Explore your options in college or even grad school. College Entrance Tests and Study Skills ACTStudent.org - Take sample tests, register to take the ACT, get test dates and school codes. This web site has all kinds of information for high school students: study tips, career info, college and financial aid information. ACT.org - Has even more of the same information, but is much more detailed. COMPASS/ESL - Some sample questions. This is also a college entrance exam. Northark, as well as other 2-year colleges, will use the test scores for placement. Some benefits: cheaper, doesn't take as long, can be scheduled for almost any day of the week. Contact your 2-years institution for cost and test dates. |
