Topic: Understanding Biology
In a 1995 interview with Dr. Shinya Inoue, a distinguished scientist at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hill Massachusetts expressed a concern held by many scientist. "I worry about science being learned as a collection of facts and theories. One needs to have a certain body of knowledge, but one also needs to understand how the knowledge is acquired- that really is the heart of science".
What have your prior experiences with science been like? What benefits do you see in non-scientist learning about the process of science?
