Final Project

Your final project is a reflection of the skills you have learned this semester. You will be creating a Web site from scratch. Decide what type of Web site you would like to build. It can be a personal site, a business site, or a totally fictitious site. Plan each page based on table layout. (All page content should be inside one table.) All text should be created using a cascading style sheet. Design your pages based on a resolution of 800 x 600.

  1. Create a storyboard that will include a minimum of a home page and three pages linked to the home page.
  2. Create a root folder, an assets folder.
    Example: sbishop/finalpro/gourmetchef/index.htm
  3. Before you begin creating page content, open the index page and create a cascading style sheet with a minimum of three styles that you will use for ALL text in your Web site. (You will have to attach it to each page.)
  4. Create page content for the index page that includes at least one graphic and a navigation bar that links to the main pages of the Web site.
  5. On at least one page, create at least two working external links.
  6. All pages should be based on table layout.

Check list for site:

  1. All pages should have page titles - highlight on each page's source code.
  2. The index page should have a description and keywords - highlight in source code.
  3. No spaces or capital letters in filenames!
  4. No typos!
  5. The index page should include a last updated statement that updates automatically on save - highlight in source code.
  6. The index page should include an e-mail link to use as a point of contact - highlight in source code.
  7. Printout of the site map.
  8. Printout of the error checker showing no broken links or orphaned files.
  9. At least three graphics.
  10. All graphics should have alternate text.

Printouts to hand in:

  1. Site map.
  2. Each page printed in Internet Explorer.
  3. The source code for each page printed in Internet Explorer.
  4. Screen print of the Assets panel showing the images in the Web site.
  5. Screen print of the Assets panel showing the colors in the Web site.
  6. Screen print of the Results panel showing no broken links.
  7. Screen print of the Results panel showing no orphaned files.
  8. Screen print of the report showing no missing Alt text.
  9. Screen print of the CSS styles panel showing all styles in the Web site.

Publish your site to the Raven server. I will grade the projects from the printouts and from viewing the site on the Raven server.
