Students learn by completing projects in Northark’s welding shop and training on welding simulators.


 

About The Program

The program provides concentrated training to develop advanced skill techniques in MIG and Flux Core Welding. Students will also perform inspection on equipment (drive rollers, contact tips, and gauges) and accessories (clothing, hand tools, and base metal) on a daily basis to ensure safe operation techniques.

Transfer or Stackable Options

Courses in this certificate can be applied towards the Technical Certificate in Welding or as one of the technical disciplines required for the Associate of Applied Science in General Technology.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand and utilize basic safety practices in the welding industry.
  • Identify and properly use fabrication materials, power equipment, and power tools.
  • Demonstrate ability to read and interpret welding fabrication blueprints.
  • Demonstrate basic welding techniques in general welding procedures.
  • Demonstrate ability to correctly set up welding machines and cutting equipment.
  • Successfully complete NCCER Core Curriculum and Welding Level I and demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency in the welding shop.
