Northark Outdoor Adventures
Disc Golf
In 2012, Northark added an 18-hole disc golf course to its South Campus at 1515 Pioneer Drive. The wooded and hilly path, featuring monkey trap baskets and concrete pads, takes visitors through the walking and bike trails. Disc golf competitions are held often at the course.
Bike Trail
The 2.5-mile-long bicycle trail is located on the North Arkansas College South Campus. It is certified by the National Interscholastic Cycling Association and is capable of hosting cycling competitions. Jagged Axe Trails designed the trail, which features wide, bermed hillside trails weaving in and out of the North Arkansas College disc golf course. The trail is a joint effort between Northark, Boone County and the Boone County Extension Service, HEART (Harrison Exercise, Adventure, and Recreational Trails), the City of Harrison and the Convention and Visitors Bureau, Harrison schools, The Trailblazers and the Walton Family Foundation, NICA Arkansas and many other individuals and businesses in our community.
Pioneer Wilderness Walking Trail
Buffalo National River
The Buffalo National River is just a short drive from Northark’s Harrison campuses. Students and visitors can enjoy floating on the Buffalo River, hiking, ziplining, horseback riding, camping, and fishing. The College partners with Buffalo National River representatives for classes and camps throughout the year. The College offers environmental science camps in the summer for junior high and high school students along with educators. The group travels to several Buffalo River sites to learn more about stream ecology, water quality, plant taxonomy, fire ecology, geology, and more.
