Barn Quilt Painting

Instructor: Genie Allen 

  

Paint a colorful barn quilt to hang on a shed or inside your home. We’ll make a quilt block painting on a 12”x12” finished wood panel. Learn how to draw the design so that you can make your own larger quilt blocks later. For this barn quilt, we will use the classic Eight-Pointed Star, which has many beautiful variations. You will select a color scheme that you find pleasing and paint your beautiful barn quilt in class. All supplies included. 

  

Genie is a creative arts instructor, tutor, and Community Education Coordinator at UA Northark. She has taught science, art, and ESL and studied costume design and art history. She loves learning new art skills and teaching others how to sew.

Decorate a Tiny House

Instructor: Genie Allen 

  

Decorate an adorable Tiny House in time for the holidays! Paint, trim, and add special details like shutters, curtains & lights to a small cardboard house. Decorate in the style of a Victorian Painted Lady, a gingerbread house, cozy cottage, or a spice village shop. Includes supplies to paint and trim the exterior of the house. Class size is limited; ages 16 and up.

Figure Drawing

Instructor: Candace Snow 

 

Learn how to draw the human figure in a life-like way. No matter your skill level, Candace can show you how to build confidence and create an expressive figure with gesture drawing, proportions, and posing. You will also learn how to draw portraits from different angles, hair styles, hands, and clothing. You will need to bring a 9”x 12” sketchbook. 

 

Candace is an experienced artist who has been teaching art for over 10 years. She works in various mediums, from watercolor and acrylic to ceramics and recycled materials. Committed to constantly learning and growing as an artist, her goal is to encourage more people to fall in love with art.

Mini Makers: Doll Bed Workshop

Instructor: Genie Allen 

 

Does your child love to craft and make small-scale furniture and accessories for dolls? In this Mini Makers class, we will be making a 1/6 scale four-poster doll bed (fits 10.5” to 11.5” dolls) complete with bedding and pillows. For children and teens ages 8-18. Students will need to bring a packed lunch for the midday lunch break.

Paper Dolls in Gouache and Mixed Media

Instructor: Amber Leibee 

 

Join our beginner-friendly class where you’ll learn to create charming paper dolls using gouache (an opaque, water-based paint) and mixed media. This hands-on workshop introduces you to tracing techniques, basic doll design, and painting with vibrant details. You’ll explore how to blend colors, add texture, and bring each doll to life with expressive outfits and accessories. Perfect for anyone new to painting or looking for a fun, creative project. You’ll leave with your own hand-painted paper dolls and the skills to continue making unique designs at home. No drawing skills required. All materials provided. 

 

Amber is a watercolorist and amateur naturalist whose artistic intention is to record the profound peace inherent in solitary study of the natural world. Amber teaches watercolor classes at Adventure Art, her art supply store in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Watercolor Bookbinding

Instructor: Lloyd Leibee 

 

Make a lovely handmade art journal with Lloyd Leibee of Adventure Art! Using 100% cotton watercolor paper, book-cloth, archival book-board, and waxed linen thread, you will make and bind a hardcover journal for all your sketches, studies, and small watercolor paintings. 

 

Lloyd is a maker at heart with a background in construction. He hand-mulls the pigments for Amber’s unique watercolor palettes and creates beautiful, useful pottery for the shop. He is co-owner of Adventure Art in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
