Barn Quilt Painting (FULL - please call 870-391-3159 for waitlist)

Instructor: Genie Allen
Paint a colorful barn quilt to hang outside or inside your home. We’ll make a geometric quilt block painting on a 12”x12” wood panel; sketch out a design, choose a color scheme you like, and paint! We will use the classic Eight-Pointed Star, which has many beautiful variations. This class will be held at Down on the Farm Quilt Shop, so class size is limited to six adult participants and payment must be made in advance. 

Genie taught herself to sew as a child and is an avid reader, designer, artist, and miniature maker. She studied costume design, art history, and teaching. She has taught art, ESL, and science in public schools. Now Genie is a creative arts instructor, tutor, and Community Education Coordinator at Northark.

Calligraphy

Instructor: Laurie Jones

Discover the elegance and beauty of the artistic writing style known as the Old English calligraphy font. Learn the basics of letterforms, various stroke techniques, and the proper use of tools such as pen and ink. Beginners are welcome and all supplies will be provided. 

 

Laurie is an artist, dancer, and art teacher by profession. She shares her love of dance by creating a space where people can come together, finding connections one step at a time.

Painting Spring Flowers

Instructor: Amber Leibee 

Join our vibrant watercolor class and explore the beauty of floral bouquets through a playful and intuitive approach. We’ll begin with blind contour drawing, which helps encourage a deep connection between eye and hand, capturing the essence of each bloom in a spontaneous, expressive way. Moving on to watercolor, you will learn how to layer transparent washes, let colors bleed, and create soft edges that mimic the natural movement of petals and leaves. All supplies needed for class will be provided. 

 

Amber is a watercolorist and amateur naturalist whose artistic intention is to record the profound peace inherent in solitary study of the natural world. Amber teaches watercolor classes at Adventure Art, her art supply store in Eureka Springs.

Printmaking with Grace

Instructor: Grace Archer 

Join us for a fun introduction to printmaking! In this workshop, you will learn the timeless art of linocut by designing, carving, and inking your very own printblock. Whether you are a seasoned artist or total beginner, you will experience the satisfaction of creating a bold, original image. You will get to take home your printblock as well as several professional quality prints to display or gift. Class size is limited and for adults only. All supplies will be provided.  

 

Grace Archer is a local artist, teacher, and farmer. She is an art education major, NAC alumni, and is currently working on her master's degree in fine art. She thinks that any opportunity to create is a valuable one!

Watercolor Bookbinding

Instructor: Lloyd Leibee 

Make a lovely handmade art journal with Lloyd Leibee of Adventure Art! Using 100% cotton watercolor paper, book-cloth, archival book-board, and waxed linen thread, you will make and bind a hardcover journal for all your sketches, studies, and small watercolor paintings.  


Lloyd is a maker at heart with a background in construction. He hand-mulls the pigments for Amber’s unique watercolor palettes and creates beautiful, useful pottery for the shop. He is co-owner of Adventure Art in Eureka Springs.

Painting with Brenda: Happy Trails

Instructor: Brenda Lawrence  

Join us for a fun oil painting workshop where you will paint a vibrant sunset scene with a horse and rider. This style of painting is inspired by the late Wilson Bickford, who made painting accessible to everyone. No experience is necessary, and all painting supplies will be provided. At the end of this workshop, you will be able to take home a finished oil painting you can display with pride. 

 

Brenda is a certified Bob Ross Instructor in landscape and florals; she is a Partner in Painting with the late Wilson Bickford and attends painting seminars with Gary Jenkins. Brenda is also a pet portrait artist and studied under Marion Dutton of England. She teaches landscapes, seascapes, and florals and loves western art.
