The Arkansas Access to Acceleration (A2A) Scholarship helps eligible high school students earn college credit while reducing the cost of concurrent enrollment courses.
For most eligible students taking standard concurrent courses through UA Northark:
✅ Tuition and Fee charges are covered through a combination of A2A funding and a UA Northark tuition and fee waiver.
✅ School districts are billed only for required instructional materials, such as textbooks or electronic course access.
✅ Students typically pay no tuition or fee charges out-of pocket.
How A2A Funding Works
Step 1: Student Enrolls
The student enrolls in an approved concurrent enrollment course via their high school counselor.
↓
Step 2: A2A Funding is Applied
UA Northark applies the A2A scholarship toward the student's tuition - $65 credit hour.
↓
Step 3: UA Northark Waives Remaining Tuition
After A2A funding is applied, UA Northark waives the remaining tuition and fee balance for eligible concurrent courses.
↓
Step 4: School District Receives Invoice
The school district is billed only for required instructional materials.
Examples include:
• Textbooks
• Electronic textbooks
• Online course access codes
• Required instructional materials
Who Can Receive A2A?
Students may qualify if they:
✔ Are enrolled in grades 9–12 (Beginning fall semester)
✔ Meet Arkansas residency requirements
✔ Enroll in an approved concurrent enrollment course
✔ Meet all concurrent enrollment admission requirements
✔ Are not enrolled in a vocational center reimbursable under Arkansas law
✔ Not a homeschooled student receiving EFA Funds
Scholarship Amount
The A2A Scholarship provides:
• $65 per semester credit hour
• Up to 15 credit hours each semester (the 16th hour if enrolled in a science course will be billed at $65 credit hour, but an additional course will be billed at the regular tuition rate). Please see the website for regular tuition rates. https://www.northark.edu/tuition-and-fees/
• Up to 30 credit hours each academic year
• Maximum annual A2A scholarship value of $2,000
Maintaining Eligibility
To continue receiving A2A funding, students must:
✓ Successfully complete concurrent coursework
✓ Maintain at least a 2.50 cumulative college GPA in concurrent courses
✓ Only attempt a course twice (includes withdrawals and fails)
If a Student Does Not Pass a Course
A student may repeat a concurrent course one additional time.
If the student does not successfully complete the course after two attempts:
• A2A funding is no longer available for that specific course, and the student/parent is financially responsible for the cost of any subsequent attempts to take the course.
The student may continue taking other concurrent courses if they remain academically eligible.
When Would a Student Owe Money?
Although most eligible students will not owe tuition or fees, charges may occur in certain situations.
Credit Hour Limits
A2A covers:
• Up to 15 credit hours each semester
• Up to 30 credit hours each academic year
If a student exceeds these limits:
The student/parent is responsible for the additional costs unless the school district agrees to pay some or all of those expenses.
Student No Longer Meets Eligibility Requirements
Regular tuition and fee rates apply if:
• The student loses A2A eligibility.
• The course is not eligible for A2A funding.
• The student exceeds A2A credit hour limits per term.
• The student has already used two attempts for the same course.
• The student fails to maintain a 2.5 GPA after two semesters, they are no longer eligible to receive the A2A scholarship.
Unless the school district agrees to assist, these costs are the responsibility of the student/parent.
Will I receive a tuition bill?
Most eligible students enrolled in approved concurrent courses will not receive a tuition bill.
Who pays for textbooks?
The student’s school district is billed for required instructional materials.
Can I take more than 15 hours?
Yes. However, A2A funding applies only to the first 15 credit hours each semester. Additional courses enrolled will be billed to the student at regular UA Northark tuition/fee rates.
What GPA must I maintain?
Students must maintain a cumulative 2.50 college GPA in concurrent coursework.
What happens if I withdraw or fail a course?
Students may repeat a course one additional time.
After two unsuccessful attempts, A2A funding is no longer available for that course.
Does A2A pay for every concurrent course?
No.
Students and courses must meet all eligibility requirements established by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.

Schedule Changes: Adding/Dropping a Course
If for any reason a student has to change their schedule and withdraw from the course(s) in which they are enrolled before classes have begun, the student needs to contact their high school counselor to initiate the schedule change. The counselor will then email the UA Northark Concurrent Department at concurrent@northark.edu with the requested change. This ensures that the counselor has approved the course change and is responsible for high school graduation completion.
All grades received for college courses will be posted on a student’s UA Northark college transcript. The UA Northark Registrar’s Office will send official grades to the high schools for all concurrent students at mid-term and after final grades have been posted.
Grade Reports/Transcripts
You may request a transcript from the Registrar’s Office in person or from www.northark.edu. You can also view your grades in your MyNorthark account after final grades have been posted.
Course Transferability
The Arkansas Department of Higher Education has implemented the Arkansas Course Transfer System (ACTS) with a general education curriculum that will transfer to any public institution of higher education in the state of Arkansas. UA Northark concurrent courses are listed in ACTS on its website at http://acts.adhe.edu as a “Guaranteed Transfer.” The UA Northark Catalog states: The Arkansas Course Transfer System (ACTS) contains information about the transferability of courses within Arkansas public colleges and universities. Students are guaranteed transfer of applicable credits and equitable treatment in the application of credits for admissions and degree requirements. Course transferability is not guaranteed for courses listed in ACTS as “No Comparable Course.” Additionally, courses with a “D” frequently do not transfer and institutional policies may vary. Transferring to a private or out-of-state school can differ, it encouraged that all students transferring to should consult with transfer advisers at the receiving institution.
Transfer of Credits
You must request an official copy of your UA Northark transcript to be sent to the college/university desired for transfer. You may request a transcript from the Registrar’s Office in person or from www.northark.edu.
