Northark coach Bobby Howard

Coach Bobby Howard is the Northark Women’s Basketball Coach and also serves as the Athletic Director.  Last year’s team finished with a record of 22-4, was undefeated in Region 2 conference play and was defeated in the region finals.  Three players were named to the All-Region team, Baylea Smith, Kelcee Hopper, and Abbey Dietsche.  Abbey Dietsche was also selected as Second team All-American.  The 2021-22 Lady Pioneers finished the year as the 7th nationally ranked team.  The Pioneers also had 8 NJCAA All- Academic players, Baylea Smith, Kenzie Parker, Kamyrn Sutterfield, Abby Linville, Haley Gentry, Kelcee Hopper, Zoie McGhee, and Byrnne Spurgin.  The team was also awarded All-American honors with a cumulative GPA of 3.40. 

The Lady Pioneers return a talented group of Sophomores that include, McGhee and Dietsche who are back for a third year due to the COVID-19 waiver.  Also returning is Sutterfield, Linville, Lilli Compton, Haylie Fry.  A transfer from Henderson State University, Bethany Richardson rounds out the sophomore class.  Coach Howard has also put together a very talented freshman class.

Howard is starting his 16th season as the head women’s basketball coach.  Last season he became the winningest coach in Northark Women’s Basketball  history, his overall record at the college is 277-134(.673%).  He was selected as Region 2 Coach of the year last season, and serves on several Region 2 committees and is a member of the President’s Cabinet.  He is the first Northark graduate to coach here.  He was selected into the Dorm Saylor’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007.  Bobby has been married to his lovely wife Becky for 39 years and has two grown children.  Lacey and husband Bryan and Clint and wife Kayla.  The Howard’s enjoy 4 grandkids:  Carson 17, Knox 7, Sloane 5, and Riggins 2.
