The Energy Management Program’s Certificate of Proficiency equips students with the knowledge and skills needed for entry-level careers in energy management, building science, and related fields, with a strong emphasis on sustainable practices and green technologies. Students will learn how to conduct comprehensive energy audits of building systems using industry-standard tools such as thermal imaging cameras, blower doors, and other diagnostic equipment. The program also covers the inspection, evaluation, and commissioning of HVAC systems, including methods to enhance system efficiency and performance. Students will gain hands-on experience performing duct leakage tests and interpreting results. Additionally, students will explore energy modeling techniques through a variety of software platforms to optimize building performance. As part of their training, students will prepare for and have the opportunity to take the LEED Green Associate Certification exam.
