Explore your creativity and build a strong foundation in visual expression with the Associate of Science in Studio Arts at UA Northark. This transfer-focused degree prepares students for continued study in fine arts, graphic design, illustration, and other creative disciplines. Students develop core skills in drawing, painting, design principles, color theory, art history, and visual communication while building a professional portfolio. UA Northark’s Studio Arts degree provides students with a well-rounded degree in the arts and general education. Students will graduate with 60 credits, including the 35-hour state general education core, and a rich variety of art courses. These courses include Art History, Fine Arts, and Studio Art options such as painting, drawing and ceramics. The Studio Arts degree also offers transfer options for those interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree. UA Northark is currently finalizing 2 + 2 transfer agreements with UALR, U of A, and Arkansas Tech. Additionally, UA Northark Arts is partnering with the Eureka Springs School of the Arts to offer workshops in artisan craft techniques for college credit.
The art studio itself was just renovated, which will double its current size. This new studio allows for dedicated painting, drawing and design, ceramics, and sculpture spaces. The studio opened in spring 2024.
