Line Dancing

Instructor: Laurie Jones 

Gain the confidence to step out on the dance floor and join the fun! Learn basic steps, moves, and rhythms while having a great time in a group setting. Instructor Laurie Jones will guide you through new and classic dances. Great for beginning line dancers and anyone wanting to get extra practice, improve their coordination, and add flair to their steps. 

 

Laurie is an artist, dancer, and art teacher by profession. She shares her love of dance by creating a space where people can come together, finding connections one step at a time.

Archery Adventures

Instructor: Kathleen Skaggs and Kimberly Fulton 

When bows are drawn, spirits soar... Your archery adventure begins this spring! Archery is an ancient practice, proven to build core strength, balance, mental focus, coordination, and self-confidence. Come learn (or return to) the basics of form, posture, and consistency, and you will amaze yourself with the progress you make in just four lessons! All skill levels are welcome, adults only. Classes will be held at the Burlsworth Youth Center. Enrollment is limited to ensure personal attention. 
 
Kathy and Kimberly have over 25 (combined) years of experience teaching. They have both achieved Level II Instructor status with USA Archery and specialize in maintaining safety standards while providing an endlessly changing, creative class that keeps everyone coming back for more.

Vacuums 101

Instructor: Maxine O’Brien  

This hands-on class will show you how to troubleshoot issues with your bagless vacuum. If you have a newer, bagless vacuum (no steam cleaners, please) that is just not performing as it used to, bring it to this class and have it checked over by a vacuum pro! Learn the ins and outs of your vacuum, and all the places where stuff can get stuck!  

 

Maxine makes sure everything runs smoothly at the North and South Campuses. As the Institutional Services Supervisor at Northark, she has many years of experience dealing with malfunctioning vacuums and other types of equipment. In her spare time, Maxine likes to ride her motorcycle, watch movies, go swimming, and hang out with friends.

Intro to Photography

Instructor: Jamie Stevens  

Do you love photography and want to take it to the next level?  Learn to take your fancy camera off the “auto” settings and learn the exposure triangle!  This class will take place in the classroom with regular photo walks indoors and outdoors to practice what you’re learning!  You will need a DSLR or mirrorless camera that can use interchangeable lenses and manual control setting options - an “M” mode.  We will learn the basics of composition as well as the 3 corners of the exposure triangle (shutter speed, aperture, and ISO). In this crash course, the goal is for you to leave the class capable of using your camera in full manual mode and most importantly to ENJOY using your camera and not be stressed out by it!

Ukelele for Adult Beginners

Instructor: Sally Sexton Burleson  

Join other adults in learning how to play the ukelele in a relaxed environment. Learn basic chord diagrams, simple rhythms, strumming patterns, and how to play old familiar songs. Perfect for adult learners looking for a new hobby or creative outlet! No musical experience required. Bring a soprano, concert, or tenor ukulele, a clip-on tuner if you have one and already tuned if possible.  

 

Sally loves to be creative. She enjoys finding new uses for old things and writes new words for old songs. With many years of experience in learning and teaching practical life skills, she wants to encourage other to get out there and learn something new! Sally grew up in the Ozarks, is retired from Bergman School, is a crafter, musician, and experienced homesteader.
