Following the retirement announcement of his father and mentor, Steve Hunter, Jordan Hunter was named Head Men’s Basketball Coach of UA-Northark in July of 2023. He initially joined the Pioneer Men’s Basketball program as Assistant Coach in 2014. After finishing a successful playing career at Ozark High School (MO) in 2005, Coach Hunter continued his basketball playing career collegiately at North Central Missouri College (NJCAA) and Westminster College (NCAA DIII). As a player and as a coach, he has always been a part of winning teams.
In addition to his role as the UA-Northark Men’s Basketball Coach, Jordan also currently serves as the Assistant Athletic Director, Basketball Camp Director, and as a full-time member of the Business/IT and HPER Faculty. For the past six years, he has also held the title of Region 2 Ambassador on the NJCAA Empowerment Council and is the current Chair/President of the Council.
Over his 12 seasons with UA-Northark basketball, Coach Jordan has recruited four NJCAA All-American award winners (J. Olds 2016 & 2017, K. Balton 2018, T. Lippoldt 2021, J. Berry 2025 & 2026), won three NJCAA DII Region 2 Championships (2015, 2016, 2025) and five Region 2 Runner-Up finishes (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2026). He has helped place over 50 scholarship players at NCAA and NAIA institutions, had dozens of NJCAA All-Academic team recipients, and has had over 75 players receive associate’s and/or bachelor’s degrees. During Coach Hunter’s 12 seasons with the program, the Pioneers are 244-129 (65.4 winning %). As a Head Coach (3 seasons), he is 64-35 (65.0 winning %), has a Region 2 Championship (2025), a Region 2 Coach of the Year Award (Unanimous, 2025), a Region 2 Runner-Up finish (2026), and has a 6-3 (66.7 winning %) record during postseason action.
Jordan has an MBA in Entrepreneurial Leadership from William Woods University (MO), two Bachelor of Arts degrees (with honors) from Westminster College (MO) in Business Administration and Sports Management, an Associate of Arts degree from North Central Missouri College, as well as a diploma (Summa Cum Laude) from Ozark High School.
